WE HAD SNOW
On Sunday here in Cedar Mountain we woke up to about one-half inch of lovely snow, which mostly did not stick to the roads. There were some shady spots that were a bit tricky, but by the afternoon most were gone. We've had a mild winter, though this past Monday was frigid and very windy.
GOING OUT ON A LIMB
It was reported that the mascot at Changes in Altitude, Woody (aka Wally) was missing a finger this week. Luckily it was found quickly and reattached. Woody has been trying to "branch" out. The missing finger had creator David Brown stumped for a while. Go by and visit Woody soon.
CREEKSIDE MARKET OPEN SUNDAYS
Wendy announces that the Creekside Market, now back under her management, is now open on Sundays. Winter hours are Monday thru Saturday 8:00am to 6:00pm, for breakfast and lunch and groceries and supplies. Sunday's hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm. You can reach Wendy at the store by calling (828) 885-2810, or visit them online at www.creeksidemarket@bravesites.com. "Be sure to like us on Face Book too." says Wendy. Stop in soon and welcome her back.
MADISON DOSSEY'S ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME
Daughter of Roy and Ea Dossey, and granddaughter of Don and Jeanne Hayes, Madison Dossey has left the country. She has flown to Costa Rico for eleven months, where she will work as a teacher. I'm sure she'll enrich all who get to know her there. Her friends and family are already anxiously awaiting her return, but I'm sure Madison will send many photos this winter of the warm, sunny beaches and tropical fruits she'll be enjoying. All our best Maddie.

AROUND THE HOUSE
I was finally able to go see Star Wars VII in 3D Monday. The ticket taker at the EPIC Theater said it was their policy to check bags before you could enter the theater. So I opened my big bag worried that my gummy worms would be confiscated. He only glanced in the bag and waved me through. I could have had a weapon in there. Maybe if I had appeared hesitant it would have been different. As for the movie I was disappointed. Sometimes the trailers are the best you are going to see. Avatar the 2nd highest grossing movie of all time is a far superior. I have watched it at least 5 times and will watch again and again.
We’d love to hear what’s going on in your life or in the community if you would like to share. Please send all news to cedarmountainnews@hotmail.com.
All news for next week has to be received by Monday evening in order to be published in the Thursday edition of the Transylvania Times.
