CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR 12-21-23
ROCKY HILL BAPTIST CHURCH
This year Rocky Hill Baptist Church will again have a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service with communion, beginning at 6:00 pm. We hope to see you here. It will be a special time for the church this Christmas.
ROCKY HILL BAPTIST CHURCH CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
The service was wonderful, and the choir sounded great. Surprisingly there was a real live baby Jesus in the manager scene. He was so sweet and smiled throughout. It made the nativity so special.
CHRISTMAS EVE POTLUCK AT THE CEDAR MOUNTAIN CANTEEN
On Sunday, December 24th the Cedar Mountain Canteen is hosting a Christmas Eve potluck. We look forward to spending time with our community this Holiday season. Join us for a Christmas Eve community potluck from 3 – 8 pm. Please bring a dish to share and your non-disposable place setting. If you cannot bring food, for any reason, we are happy to feed you. We look forward to sharing a meal this Christmas Eve. We will be closed on Christmas day.
CEDAR MOUNTAIN FIRE RESCUE CHRISTMAS PARTY
Everyone enjoyed the good food and camaraderie. Many awards were handed out for fire personal longevity and other honors. Santa came early and was swamped by kids young and not so young. Auxiliary member, Nancy Cadora smiles as Santa lets her know that she has been pretty good, and he will be bringing her some presents. Pic
The highlight of the evening is always the auction. Donations for the auction come from many places in the area and consist of everything from TVs to pocket knives. The auxiliary and firefighters enjoy bidding on them with Fire Department Bucks. The “bucks” or points are awarded for time spent on responding to calls and the auxiliary providing supporting services such as fundraising. The bucks are spent bidding on these donated items. Bidding wars occurred on several items and was a lot of fun to hear as participants fought for their favorite item.
BLOOD DRIVE
44 people gave the gift of life last Saturday. This might be a record turnout. There were many walk-ins and to serve everyone, the drive lasted an additional hour. We were more than happy to oblige. Many thanks to all who came to help someone live, who might not have been so lucky otherwise. Please come again next time.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
Buying a Christmas present for my honey has been a challenge. He wanted Christmas cookie cutters, so he got them as a pre-Christmas gift. He made some wonderful sugar cookies on Tuesday. I kept eating them so that he would have room for more cookies as they came out of the oven. I’m helpful like that. I’ll have to wrap them up when he’s through baking so I can put them under the tree.
We are having new gutters put on the roof on Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed that this project goes a lot better than the roof did.
