CEDAR MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY CENTER

The Annual CMCC Thanksgiving Potluck is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Since the Community Center is being restored from damage from the hurricane the potluck will be held at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Life Center. Food on the table by 6:15p.   Food will be served at 6:30p. Turkey and Ham and Gravy will be supplied by CMCC. Please bring your" Must Have Thanksgiving Dish" to share with the community. It is a time of fellowship and thanksgiving and wonderful food. Everyone is welcome.

The Cedar Mountain Community response to the devastation of Helene was remarkable and again demonstrated the neighborly qualities that make this an amazing place to live and demonstrated the integral role of the Community Center in our lives. The Cedar Mountain Community Center is in the process of electing new officers. The positions of President, Vice President and four Board positions have term expired. Jeff Ambrose our current Vice President is on the slate currently unopposed for the position of President.

The Center is looking for volunteers willing to express their ideas on how it can best support the community. If you would like to participate in that effort by submitting your name to be placed on the election slate of nominees, please email your contact information to our current president Terie Girolamo@ te.rieg@hotmail.com The Center is currently assessing storm damage and deciding how best to service the community moving forward. Due to the storm our time frame for elections has been disrupted. The community typically votes at our Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner. The dinner is now scheduled for November 12 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Life Center. If within this time frame a slate of nominees is finalized by then, we will proceed with the vote at that time. Otherwise, we will schedule the election for December. Please join us to better serve Cedar Mountain. All nominees will be considered. If you cannot serve on the Board, you can still have a huge impact by sending your ideas and suggestions of what you would like to see the future CMCC offer to Cedar Mountain. Let all of us make the future CMCC even better and more community minded than before. Thank you. Terie Girolamo

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young

We had flood damage we weren’t even aware of or think about until this week.  We got a notice about our storage building being flooded with 3 feet of water.  Except for my honeys prized collection of cook books we didn’t have much in there thank goodness.  We brought home large area rug that we hope to salvage and some quality dining room chairs that we hope to rescue.  The storage owner offered to dispose of the cook books for us. That was a relief.  We still consider ourselves very lucky.

We had occasion to drive through the Biltmore Village area last week and what you see on TV doesn’t give you an inkling of the breadth and profound damage to this area. The furniture store (that had a huge inventory) we meant to visit was hard hit.  All the furniture was gone and a hazmat team was cleaning up.

We did find a suitable lift recliner for my honey at another store!
