CEDAR MOUNTAIN NEWS FOR THURSDAY 11-7-24
CEDAR MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE by Teresa Girolamo
The Cedar Mountain Community Center is currently undergoing a remediation process to deal with the water damage from Hurricane Helene. All the furniture, tables and chairs, walls, flooring, cabinets and much more needed to be dried, disinfected, and mold growth removed.
We have hired Serve Pro, a national remediation company, to complete this project. The process required the walls and cabinets to be removed and discarded. The flooring was pulled up and we are trying to save what we can salvage once it has been processed. Many of our appliances will need to be replaced.
Once this is completed, we will be moving into the Restoration Process. This will take time and money. We are thankful for all the donations we received to help feed the community while we were isolated after the storm. More donations will be needed for the Restoration phase and may be made online at cedarmountaincommunitycenter.com or mailed to CMCC PO BOX 152 Cedar Mountain, NC 28718.
We are trying to complete this as soon as possible. We will keep you informed on the progress to reopen. In the interim we are still having our annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner on November 12 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Life Center. CMCC will provide turkey, ham, and gravy; you bring your favorite side dish or dessert. Please have food on table by 6:15P. We are looking forward to sharing this meal and fellowship with all of you.
The Cedar Mountain Community Center is in the process of electing new officers. The positions of President, Vice President and four Board positions have term expired. Jeff Ambrose our current Vice President is on the slate currently unopposed for the position of President. The Center is looking for volunteers willing to express their ideas on how it can best support the Cedar Mountain Community. If you would like to participate in that effort by submitting your name to be placed on the election slate of nominees, please email your contact information to our current president. Terie Girolamo at te.rieg@hotmail.com.
Due to the storm our time frame for elections has been disrupted. The community typically votes at our Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner. If within this time frame a slate of nominees is finalized by then, we will proceed with the vote at that time. Otherwise, we will schedule the election for December. Please join us to better serve Cedar Mountain. All nominees will be considered.
If you cannot serve on the Board, you can still have a huge impact by sending your ideas and suggestions of what you would like to see the future CMCC offer to Cedar Mountain. Let all of Us make the future CMCC even better and more community minded than before. Thank you.
CEDAR MOUNTAIN FIRE DEPARTMENT
As a thank you and to honor all volunteers who helped with Hurricane Helene, in any way in Cedar Mountain, the CMFRD Auxiliary is offering a free breakfast to honor you on Saturday November 16th from 8 am to 11 am at the fire department. This includes all fire personal, medical personnel and private citizens.
CEDAR MOUNTAIN TRUNK OR TREAT 2024! By Sarah Dearbaugh – Studio 276
This year, the Cedar Mountain Kids Club and Connestee Kids Club joined forces to put on a spooky night for the community. Thank you to our crew of neighbors & friends for going ALL OUT—the trunks and costumes looked amazing! The Dancing Dashboard Duo got voted Best Trunk…but it was so close between all! The pet parade was new this year and too cute! Thank you DJ ELLZ for rockin’ while we were trunkin’! It was a great post-Helene Halloween!
AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Packer Young
Not a lot happening around the house this week thank goodness. My honey’s arm is much better and he is able to do more for himself. That is a relief for both of us. He will begin some physical therapy soon. He is celebrating his 82nd birthday on the 6th so Happy Birthday Honey.
