AROUND THE HOUSE BY Correspondent Linda Packer Young

We went to see the movie Mufasa: The Lion King in 3D at the AMC Theatre in Asheville Saturday. Little did we know what an ordeal that would be. GPS is great most of the time but it wasn't aware of all the road closures in that area due to Helene. We were led into the flood area along the Swannanoa River and had an awful time finding our way out. Most of the bridges were closed and the devastation was horrific. There was debris in the trees an estimated 30 feet high. After nearly ½ hour of trying to find the theatre the movie had already started. Then we found our reserved seats already occupied. It was dark and rather than make a fuss, I found seats up closer to the screen but it was awful. I searched and found two seats in the handicap aisle. It was perfect - much better than the reserved seats. It was cold in there so the heated recliners were nice. As for the movie, (a musical), the 3D was great and so realistic but the music did not suit an African environment.
