MARCH CELEBRATIONS

No anniversaries were listed in March, but I know of eight birthdays:

It’s no secret that Jim Sketo hit the big 70 on March 2nd. Keeping him young though is his beautiful wife Kathy Sketo whose birthday is also this month; March 15th.

Carol Ableman turns another year older on March 4th; Anne Guffey celebrates on the 8th; Fred Rich on the 16th; Jentsen Rackley on March 17th; Dana Husky on the 19th, and Nancy Mayer on the 20th of March. Happy birthday to all and God bless you!

Have I missed your birthday or anniversary? Please let me know at chris_p_artist@yahoo.com

EASTER IS APRIL 4TH

For the second year, there will not be a public gathering at “Pretty Place”(Symmes Chapel) on Easter morning due to Covid concerns. Easter is early this year, on April 4th.

Rocky Hill Baptist Church has performed an Easter Sunrise service at Pretty Place for over 60 years, and we hope to continue this tradition again in 2022. The Rocky Hill choir will perform this year’s Easter cantata at the 11:00 am service on Easter at the church. For more information please call the pastor of Rocky Hill church Dr. Leland Holland at (828)862-5611.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MOVES BACK

The adult Sunday school at Rocky Hill church, led by Deb Holland, has been meeting in the large Family Life Center the past several months. As of this Sunday, March 7th, we will meet in the church in the main Sunday school room downstairs as we used to do. The Sunday school meet & greet and prayer time is available at 9:45 am as Deb Holland arrives early. Bible study begins at 10:00 am. This Sunday we are studying Luke 7:40-50.

GROWING UP IN CEDAR MOUNTAIN

The author of the newest book on growing up in Cedar Mountain, Stanley Bishop, is planning to come here this summer to talk about his memories and do a book signing. His book, “Recollections”, is a huge hit with all who have had the opportunity to read it already! Stay tuned here for the “date” of Stan’s visit.

AROUND THE HOUSE by Linda Young

Thanks to Zoosk online dating; there will be a new man around the house come September. We met online last September and will be married this September. It certainly does help to have a man around to help get things done. The basement stairs are well on their way to the finish. Richard cut the treads to fit and we are ready to sand, stain, and varnish. I gave up on trying to refinish the existing stairs myself. Richard has better workshop tools too.

These days, due to social distancing, it’s hard to meet anyone. Online dating was the answer. Zoosk said we were a perfect match and as it turned out we are.

If you are single and would rather not be, give online dating a try. I’m glad I did.

Thank you for reading the Cedar Mountain News. Your contributions and comments are encouraged and welcome. We’d like to hear what’s going on if you would like to share.

Photos are welcome as well. Please email your news or any questions to Cedarmountainnews@Gmail.com by Monday evening.
